The HDR RTP Scholarship, also referred to as the DUPR Scholarship, is currently open to international postgraduate and Ph.D. students from diverse academic fields. This scholarship offers them the chance to pursue their studies at Deakin University in Australia.
Scholarship Benefits:
The HDR RTP Scholarship, commonly referred to as the DUPR Scholarship, includes an extensive support package aimed at enhancing the academic experiences of students. In the year 2024, this scholarship provides an annual tax-exempt stipend of $30,000, enabling students to concentrate on their research endeavors without financial concerns. Additionally, for those students relocating to Deakin University from other regions or countries to pursue their studies, a relocation allowance ranging from $500 to $1,500 is offered. This recognizes the challenges of moving and aims to facilitate a seamless transition for students.
International students, in particular, are provided with the advantage of a Single Overseas Student Health Cover policy that remains valid for the entire duration of their student visa. This ensures their access to essential healthcare services.
The duration of these scholarships varies depending on the degree being pursued:
- Doctoral Degree students receive stipends for 3 years, with tuition fees offset for 4 years.
- Those pursuing a Research Master’s Degree are eligible for the stipend for 2 years, along with tuition fees offset for the same duration.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance, or DUPRS, students must be enrolled in an HDR program at Deakin University, regardless of their nationality. However, if pursuing an RTP Fees Offset, it’s important not to hold a corresponding award or scholarship from the Commonwealth that is intended to cover HDR fees. Additionally, individuals aspiring to receive an RTP or DUPRS Stipend should not already be receiving income from another source to cover general living expenses during their course of study.
It’s important to note that each student is entitled to one Aston Scholarship or discount for their enrolled program, with recognition that distinct selection criteria may apply to individual programs. As applicants consider these opportunities, it’s advised to take into account the specific requirements outlined for each program.
For a comprehensive understanding of the admission prerequisites for HDR courses at Deakin University, please consult the research degree entry pathways page. Detailed terms and conditions for each scholarship can be found in the Further Information section below. For a deeper understanding of the RTP Scholarship Policy, please refer to the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Scholarships Procedure.
Application Process:
Current HDR students at Deakin University have the opportunity to apply for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend, with the assessment process managed by their respective Faculty/Institute. It’s important to note that students who have already completed three years in their doctoral program or two years in their master’s program (or the equivalent for part-time students) are not eligible to participate in this application.
This scholarship initiative exemplifies Deakin University’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and providing students with the essential support they need to succeed in their educational endeavors.
